You can earn your degree at one of the many pharmacy schools in US. You can even earn your pharmacy degree online. But what types of pharmacy degrees are there? There are two main pharmacy degrees.

Pharmacist
If you want to become a pharmacist, you will need to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. This will license you to practice pharmaceutical medicine at a pharmacy, in a hospital, at a clinic, or where ever else pharmacists are found.

There are some differences between a traditional pharmacy colleges and accredited pharmacy schools online. There can also be requirement differences from one state to another. Earning an online pharmacy degree offers you the opportunity to continue to hold a job, raise a family, or deal with the other commitments in your life, all the while saving you time and money compared to attending a traditional university or college to earn your pharmacy degree.

One you have completed your pharmacy degree, you will be licensed to work at any of the many pharmacies. There is an endless demand for pharmacists so finding employment should be fairly easy.

Once you have earned your pharmacy degree you will have a wealth of knowledge on medications, drug interactions, drug reactions, recalls and much more. You will be required to operate under the pharmacist code of ethics and the duties of a pharmacist include keeping your clients safe. Pharmacy Technician
A pharmacy technician program takes about half the time of a pharmacist program. You can earn your technicians degree at a traditional pharmacy technician school or you can earn an online pharmacy technician degree. The same applies here as with the pharmacist degree. You can save time and money by attending an online pharmacy technician school.

A pharmacy technician requires you to have a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree. You will learn about different types of medication, dosages, application of prescription drugs, allergies, and how to take the health history of your clients. You will come away will a good understanding of how a pharmacy runs and what the expectations are of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician that work in a pharmacy, as well as how to stay organized. You will be trained enough that should the pharmacist be ill or go on holidays you will be able to keep things moving smoothly.

There are ample employment opportunities as a pharmacy technician. Most pharmacy technician programs will include training you how to work with a licensed pharmacist, and of course as a pharmacy technician, there are things you are not allowed to do that a pharmacist can do.

Both career choices are rewarding and even fun. There are many accredited pharmacy schools online that offer both the pharmacy program and the pharmacy technician program.

No matter which program you are interested in you will need to first look for pharmacy technician colleges or pharmacy colleges. Look at the requirements to be accepted into the program. Different facilities have different requirements. Tuition costs will vary from one pharmacy school to the next. Some will offer financial aid or financing of your program, while others will not.

Now you need to make a short list of the schools of pharmacy you are interested in. From there you will need to fill out the application. You will need to provide transcripts that are either from high school or another college or university that you may have attended. Now you wait to see if you are accepted. Don’t apply to just one pharmacy school. You want to have enough applications out there so that you aren’t disappointed.
